On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, the Board of Supervisors and Daily Executive Board of the Indonesian Fishers and Fishery Workers Union (KP3I) convened a strategic silaturahmi meeting to evaluate current challenges and define actionable pathways forward.
The discussion focused on critical and systemic issues affecting fishers and fishery workers, including labor protection, fair recruitment practices, competency development, and the alignment of national governance with global standards in the fisheries supply chain.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Dr. H. Endang Suhaedy, and the Chairman of the National Board (DPN KP3I), Mr. Sumardi, along with key organizational leaders.
This forum reaffirmed KP3I’s strategic positioning—not only as a representative body for workers, but also as a governance partner in advancing responsible, transparent, and sustainable fisheries.
Moving forward, collaborative engagement between workers’ organizations, industry stakeholders, and regulators will be essential to address structural challenges and ensure that Indonesia’s fisheries sector grows with equity, compliance, and global competitiveness.
